Currently the FSM by the accomplishments and indicators, is considered a successful example of scientific education and research university of modern Tunisia.

Today, about 6,000 students and more than 300 teachers attending the FSM. The major project which current teaching focus teachers and administration is that of the LMD reform, which this year reaches its 3rd year. Six new core courses and 3 applied were created

The introduction of new licenses is more complex in this setting that the number and variety of disciplines, of course, speakers are great. This brings the student obviously better choices and experience of reforms already oiled about 30 years and therefore a better chance of success of his training to lead to a job or continue in Master or PhD.

Rich generations of graduates, technicians, maîtrisards, engineers (7000), DEA (463), Doctors (120) and skills (33), the institution has contributed significantly to the development of the country’s scientific cadres.

Currently, the former FSM count in their ranks a large canvas of academics working in institutions abroad or in Tunisia and especially in the new scientific institutions created in the universities of Monastir, Sousse, Gafsa, Gabes and Kairouan, without forget the military higher education. They bring together their skills and experience to contribute to the development of scientific education and scientific research in the various regions.

The radiation may also given to leaders at the University of Tunisia which has won three in its university presidents, and not less than twenty directors and deans.

Recognizing the importance of this challenge, the state has planned the construction of a research tower and accompanying this development should be better adapted to local point of view, equipment, operating safety and ease of exchange between disciplines …
Research in FSM :
In scientific research, the FSM has participated in development activities in various scientific priority countries by training future leaders through training through research, development facilities, centers of development and material characterization and providing consistent scientific production continues.

Currently, all departments have graduate courses open to top students of the country and affect various disciplines important to the future.

In particular, the FSM was the precursor of training and research in microelectronics, material components and systems on chip and in the synthesis of chemicals and has been since the early 90s. The emergence of new themes in symbiosis with the vital and strategic needs of the country has always been the concern of the university community. At the FSM animate these activities are 5 laboratories, 18 research units and 6 USCR, ie equivalent to not less than 500 full-time researchers. Public funding is so strongly reinforced by international contracts also allow a continuous comparison of means, methods and research results.
